The Little Green Roofs Project
12/07/2010
Red Rose Forest are offering residents, community groups and schools across Manchester the chance to develop their own urban biodiversity hotspots by being a part of the Little Green Roofs project.
Green roofs are becoming increasingly popular in towns and cities across the country and can provide buildings with natural insulation and a haven for local wildlife, whilst soaking up excess rainwater, helping reduce flood risk.
Usually, green roofs are placed on large established buildings, or planned into new developments but “little” green roofs can go anywhere, from a garden shed to bike shelter!
With funding from Manchester City Council’s Carbon Innovation Fund, Red Rose Forest is looking to work with any groups that may be interested in taking part in this exciting development.
